PD Cricket started as a part of Halcyon Sports and Leisure back in the late 90’s. It grew from there and when the parent company closed down in 1997 PD Cricket went out on its own with Director Peter Drinnen the driving force behind the company.
The core of the business was designing and implementing cricket programs for schools in and around Brisbane. Peter identified a real shortage of quality coaching and structured programming in the school environment.
His aim was to provide students with an overall education in the game covering the 5 aspects coaches talk so much about:
Technical based training
Physical based training
Mental preparation
Tactical awareness
Lifestyle skills
All programs were drawn up and overseen by Peter and although Peter delivered some, others were driven on the ground by a staff of quality coaches, many still involved in the school system today. PD Cricket continued to grow delivering:
One on one coaching sessions
Small group coaching session
Designing and delivering holiday clinics for schools and clubs
Squad sessions (Club, State, National levels)
Coach mentoring
And much more
In 2003 Peter took up a full time position in Scotland, a country he had been working and playing in for 9 years, to further his skills and knowledge in the game. This meant that PD Cricket ceased operating and had remained that way until early January 2014. Peter returned to Australia having been on the road for almost 11 years, 5 of those in Scotland, 6 in Holland, he has returned home to re establish PD Cricket. In his time abroad Peter coached at National level for 8 years, coaching at 4 World Cups in 2 formats, achieving the highest level of coaching accreditation possible in world cricket and got married and had 3 children. The overriding reason for his return home, seeking that balance in life for him and his family.
